Tiki Kon officially kicked off Friday July 5, but if you were lucky enough to make it to Portland on the day before, you had an opportunity to attend the Hale Pele Mug Release Party!
If you were staying at the hotel, a bus came to take you directly to Hale Pele. That means you can drink and leave the driving to someone else!
Standing at the entrance to greet everyone were Rebecca and Martin Cate!
The mug release party was a private event, which meant that only Tiki Kon people could attend. Usually when I go out to a tiki bar, I may be the only person wearing an aloha shirt, but this evening everyone was dressed up and ready to tiki!
Everyone had a great time and the drinks were great…
As always at Hale Pele, there was fire and there were flames.

On a sad note, this was Coleton’s last night at Hale Pele. He’s moving out of Portland to bigger and better things. Coleton was dialed in and always took care of my tiki drink needs. He will be missed.
The entire crew at Hale Pele was awesome this evening and they always make a visit to Hale Pele a wonderful experience.
Time flew by fast and sadly it was time to get on the bus and head back to the hotel. That’s ok though, Greg and Justin have a lot in store for us with Tiki Kon, Pageant Of The Pacific this year. We’re all going to need to rest up, things are just getting started …
