It’s all about escapism. It really is.

We all work hard and we all get into our own routines. One day turns into the next and before you know it you’re a decade older. Sometimes being able to escape from your day-to-day life and pretend you’re somewhere else is not only fun, but I think needed! Besides Disney, no place does escapism better than Las Vegas, NV.

Just walk down the Las Vegas Strip and choose your own adventure. Want to stay in a medieval castle? Want to be whisked away to Paris? How about New York City? Or even spend a weekend in a pyramid? You can do all these things and after a couple drinks, you’ll forget that you’re in the middle of the desert!

Yes, the people who design the hotels in Las Vegas have escapism down to a science. If you run a Tiki bar there, you have to up your game! Branden Powers, the owner of the Golden Tiki, rose up to the Las Vegas escapism challenge and came back with a full house! The Golden Tiki is awesome!

The Golden Tiki opened up in the summer of 2015. The bar is located in a strip mall deep in the heart of Chinatown. It’s not where you’d expect to find Tiki bar, but the sign above the door told me I was in the right place.

To go inside, you have to go through not one…

…but two doors. There is cool stuff to see even before you make it in…

The two-door entrance is an important element when it comes to escapism. It keeps the real world out! Once you step through the second door, you enter into a Tiki escape…

The place is bigger than you think it is. The first thing you see is the bar, which seems to go on forever into the back…

Punk rock and rockabilly types fill the tables and booths…

That’s my kind of people! Once you make it to the other side of the bar, it opens up to a space where bands play. The Sharps were playing cool ’60s standards and totally set the mood for the evening…

Turn your head to the right and you’ll find a huge back room. Sitting in the middle of the room is skeleton that will start talking to you!

The skeleton comes with it’s own little light show and all!

There is also a giant clam that is great for photos!

The Golden Tiki has got the decor down, but I’m sure your wondering how the drinks are.

In one word: great! The menu is really cool and the drink selection has all the Tiki classics!

Some of the drinks I had were the Mai Tai, the 3 Dots and a Dash, the Navy Grog, and the Banana Batida…

All the drinks were very good and I’d order anyone of them again and again. Too bad I don’t live in Vegas!

If you’re a fan of Dole Whip, then you’re in for a treat! The Golden Tiki serves it and they also have drinks with Dole Whip as an ingredient! The Banana Batida has Dole Whip and it was very tasty!

If your going to Vegas and you love Tiki, you have to make it out to the Golden Tiki. Once you step inside, you’ll forget you’re in Vegas!
